The Next Big Thing

The Next Big Thing is a “viral blog” exposing the reader to blogs of authors who write in a varied genres.? Each of these bloggers will answer identical questions about a work he or she has in progress.? The plan is for each author to chooses other authors? and keep the chain going.? The following is my next book, now being edited and to be released this winter:

What is the title of your book?

Foul Shot

?How did you come by the idea?

Literally, in a dream.? It was only the opening scene, but gave me a starting point.? Originally it was going to be a short story.? Then I realized more should be said and it became a novel.

What genre does your book fall under?

Suspense/ mainstream fiction

Which actors would you choose to play your characters if it were a movie?

Olga Kurylenko and Nicolas Cage.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Vince?s comfortable life is thrown into turmoil by a wild and mysterious woman who takes him on roller-coaster ride of emotions and perils.

Will your book be self-published or traditional?

Self-published

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

The first draft was about 4 months.? Years of editing.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Hmmm, possibly some of Andrew Greeley?s earlier works.? There are elements of police work, the Church and mystery woven into the tale.

?Who or what inspired you to write this book?

It is actually the first full book I wrote.? Because I felt it needed work, I back-burnered it for a while.?? I let a few people read the first draft who encouraged me to publish it, saying it was a page-turner.? So now I have it almost ready to publish.

?What else about your book might pique the reader?s interest?

It is a story that begins as a cop?s tale, but is not a ?cop book.?? It is a story with romance and desire, but is definitely not a ?romance.?? It is a story with mystery, but is not a ?mystery.?? It is a tale of life, Vince?s life, and how it is transformed and tormented once he meets Gina, a woman who loves and hates with all-consuming passion.
